Start by relating math to their everyday experiences such as doing math at the grocery store. First create a shopping list and a grocery budget stressing the amount must not go over the budget choose coupons that match the items on the grocery list and discuss how much money will be saved on various items by using coupons.. Make sure to have your child keep track of the food on the list and add the amount of the food as you go. You can have your child help weigh the food and even try to guess how many servings each family member would eat and write the numbers down to measure the family’s food intake.
Other ideas guess how many clothes are in the clothes dryer then how many are in sets based on color or size. Pull out the piggy bank and have the children guess how many coins are in the bank then have them count the coins to see who is close or correct after they count the coins have them to guess how many of each coins there is have them give a guess and then sort the coins and see what they come up with.
You can also do math games at home for example I have been talking about some fantastic e- books called "Fun Math Games" they are some wonderful games that you can print and use at anytime.
To find out more about "Fun Math Games" see my earlier post.
Bye for now!
